The Paint job

Here are some pictures of the car being primed and painted.

i went with the A300 color code

E30 M3 Wheel Choice

Came across a set of BBS RC wheels over a year ago and kept them stored at a friend's place for till last week. I had one wheel mounted on the car to check for fitment issue.

Apparently  the tyre size i used is 235/45/18, yes they are 18'' wheels...

Basically the width of the wheel was perfect, 235 seems excellent and doesn't stick out nor touch the springs. However, the height seems to be a little bit high for the wheel arc diameter, The front wheel touches the back end of the fender arch from the door side.

Notice how the rear side of the wheel touches the edge of the fender

Ready to go to the body shop

Finally the swap is done.

The last few days were a bit challenging as they struggled to sort out the cable clutch system, so they ended up converting it to a Hydraulic system. I tried to use the slave cylinder from my spare E39 m5 but that didn’t work the design was just almost impossible to fit in there.

Another challenge they faced was the RPM Gauge not reading from the ECU, they had to bypass the ECU somehow with use of some resistors.

Leave with you with 2 pictures for the Dash and the Hydraulic clutch cylinder.

E30 M3 4G63 first run

It's been a few weeks since my last update, so i'll try to sum up whats been going on.

We have managed to firre her up for the first time 2 weeks back, she is running smoothly and will need to be tuned on a dyno.

This video posted here shows the car running

This is the how the engine bay looks like now

Custom Cluster

We couldn't locate any evo instrument cluster during the period when the car was being built so the only option left was to go with an aftermarket solution.

Looked at several options and finally settled on a retro custom built cluster.

I went with the Racetech Gauges from http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/

The Gagues are for: Oil Pressure, Oil Temp, Water Temp, Boost and RPM
