The Rust Misery

January 2011: After taking some parts off and digging deeper it was clear to us that she has suffered from rust in all sorts of different places. Wheel arches, floor pan under the accelerator panel. under the windscreen, in the firewall, and finally under the sideskirts.

 

I put some pictures up to show what sort of rust we were dealing with.

 

In the picture above you i placed the old rusted piece beside the new panel that was welded in.

 

That was the amount of rust we took out all summed up in one photo.

 

The damaged areas were cut out and replaced with proper sheets. My M3 required a full paint job (she had 3 different colors previous to the Alpine White), a better engine, suspension, and brakes. In short, it was a disaster...
